Teenage Fanclub & The Nightingales in Birmingham

Teenage Fanclub are a Scottish rock band formed in Bellshill in 1989. Their melodic indie rock and power pop became widely associated with the album Bandwagonesque, followed by records including Grand Prix and Songs from Northern Britain. “The Concept,” “Star Sign,” “Sparky’s Dream” and “Ain’t That Enough” are among their best-known songs. In the early 1990s, Teenage Fanclub toured with Nirvana. The 2018 Songs from Teenage Fanclub concerts later comprised three-night residencies in Glasgow, Manchester, Birmingham and London, each night drawing on a different period of the catalogue. The Endless Arcade tour followed the release of the album in 2021. Teenage Fanclub have also taken their full-band sets to Glastonbury and Reading Festival.

The Nightingales are an English post-punk band formed in Birmingham in 1979 by singer and songwriter Robert Lloyd with former members of The Prefects. Their early records paired angular rock with Lloyd’s dry, narrative lyrics; key releases include the albums Pigs on Purpose, Hysterics and In the Good Old Country Way, as well as the song “Idiot Strength.” After the original group disbanded in 1986, Lloyd revived The Nightingales in 2004 and returned to touring clubs across the UK, Europe and the United States. The re-formed band has also performed at Glastonbury Festival and played hometown-area concerts at the Hare & Hounds in Kings Heath.
