The Cookers in Old Lyme

The Cookers are an American jazz septet formed in 2007 by trumpeter and arranger David Weiss. The group plays hard bop and post-bop, drawing on compositions by members including Billy Harper, Eddie Henderson, George Cables and Cecil McBee. Its recordings include Warriors, Believe, Time and Time Again and Look Out!. The Cookers recorded Warriors during performances at New York’s Jazz Standard. The septet later gave an NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert and carried the same two-trumpet, two-saxophone format to club engagements at Ronnie Scott’s in London.
