The Lovin' Spoonful is an American folk-rock and pop band formed in New York City in 1965 by John Sebastian, Zal Yanovsky, Steve Boone and Joe Butler. The group is known for “Do You Believe in Magic,” “Daydream,” “Summer in the City” and “You Didn't Have to Be So Nice,” as well as the albums Do You Believe in Magic and Daydream. The band played an early residency at the Night Owl Cafe, establishing its live presence during the original lineup's 1960s run. Decades later, Sebastian, Yanovsky, Boone and Butler reunited to perform when The Lovin' Spoonful entered the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2000 at the Waldorf-Astoria.
The Hollies are an English pop-rock band formed in Manchester in 1962. Built around close vocal harmonies and melodic guitar pop, they became known for songs including “Bus Stop,” “Carrie Anne,” “He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother,” “Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress” and “The Air That I Breathe.” The Hollies marked their first five decades with a 50th Anniversary Tour in 2012. Ten years later, The Road Is Long tour celebrated the band’s 60th anniversary through a run of theatre concerts that included the London Palladium.
