About The Mattson 2
The Mattson 2 are an American instrumental duo from San Diego, formed by twin brothers Jared and Jonathan Mattson. Their music draws on jazz improvisation, surf guitar and psychedelic rock, led by Jared’s guitar and Jonathan’s drums. Their catalog includes Feeling Hands, Agar and Paradise, while Star Stuff paired them with Toro y Moi’s Chaz Bundick.
In 2017, the brothers performed material from Star Stuff with Chaz Bundick and documented the collaboration in a live session for KEXP. The expanded lineup placed Bundick’s vocals, bass and keyboards around the duo’s central format, which remains Jared Mattson on guitar and Jonathan Mattson on drums.
