Artist
The Mission are an English gothic-rock band formed in Leeds in 1986 by Wayne Hussey and Craig Adams following their departure from The Sisters of Mercy. Albums including God’s Own Medicine, Children and Carved in Sand established their dark, guitar-led sound, while “Wasteland,” “Tower of Strength” and “Butterfly on a Wheel” became their best-known songs. The Mission performed at Reading Festival in 1987 during their first major period of touring. In 2008, they staged four farewell concerts at Shepherd’s Bush Empire under the title The Final Chapter, presenting material from different phases of the band’s catalogue. They returned for 25th-anniversary concerts in 2011, including a show at Brixton Academy.
