About The Tiger Lillies
The Tiger Lillies are a British trio formed in London in 1989 by singer and accordionist Martyn Jacques. Their music is dark cabaret built around falsetto vocals, accordion and macabre storytelling. They are particularly associated with the stage production Shockheaded Peter and The Gorey End, recorded in collaboration with Kronos Quartet.
Shockheaded Peter took the group into theatres through productions in London and New York, followed by international performances. Their later stage projects included adaptations of The Rime of the Ancient Mariner and Hamlet, alongside concerts in cabaret rooms, theatres and festival venues.
The concert format centres on Jacques at the microphone, accordion and piano, supported by bass, percussion and instruments including the musical saw. The Tiger Lillies have performed at Glastonbury Festival and returned to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe for theatre and cabaret productions.
