Artist
The Woodentops are a British band formed in South London in 1983, led by singer and guitarist Rolo McGinty. Their brisk, rhythm-driven indie pop took shape on early singles including “Well Well Well” and “Good Thing,” followed by the album Giant; “Why Why Why” also found a lasting audience in club culture. In 1984, The Woodentops supported The Smiths on British dates before building their own touring audience. Released in 1987, Live Hypnobeat Live captured the band’s percussion-heavy concert set in Los Angeles.
