About The xx
The xx are a British band formed in London in 2005, centred on Romy Madley Croft, Oliver Sim and Jamie Smith, who also records as Jamie xx. Their restrained indie pop and electronic music is built around Croft and Sim’s paired vocals and Smith’s production. The self-titled debut album won the Mercury Prize in 2010 and includes “Crystalised,” “Islands” and the instrumental “Intro”; later releases include Coexist and I See You, which features “On Hold.”
The Coexist Tour began in 2012 and carried the second album into theatres and festivals. The I See You Tour followed in 2017; its British dates included a seven-night residency at O2 Academy Brixton, before the band performed on Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage that summer.
They also played Madison Square Garden in New York in 2017. Later that year, the trio performed in an amphitheatre setting at Los Angeles’s Hollywood Bowl.
