About The Yardbirds
The Yardbirds are a British rock band formed in London in 1963, known for turning rhythm and blues into guitar-driven rock on songs including “For Your Love,” “Heart Full of Soul” and “Shapes of Things.” Their successive lineups featured Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page, while the album Roger the Engineer captured the group’s move toward psychedelic and experimental rock.
In 1963, The Yardbirds succeeded the Rolling Stones as the resident band at the Crawdaddy Club in Richmond. Their early club repertoire was documented on Five Live Yardbirds, recorded at the Marquee Club in 1964, and the Jimmy Page lineup’s 1968 performance at the Anderson Theatre was recorded in New York shortly before the original group broke up.
