Tierney Sutton in Los Angeles

Tierney Sutton is an American jazz vocalist, born in Omaha in 1963, whose work centers on close interpretation of the jazz and popular-song repertory. Her recordings include Blue in Green, a Bill Evans project, Dancing in the Dark, devoted to songs associated with Frank Sinatra, and After Blue, built around the music of Joni Mitchell. The Tierney Sutton Band became her principal touring ensemble and performed at Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center. Tierney Sutton also appeared at the Hollywood Bowl and Jazz at Lincoln Center, establishing a live history that encompassed jazz rooms and major concert halls. The Tierney Sutton Band performs in a voice, piano, bass and drums format shaped through collective arrangements. Its long-standing personnel has included pianist Christian Jacob, bassists Trey Henry and Kevin Axt, and drummer Ray Brinker. Tierney Sutton performed at the Monterey Jazz Festival in California and Jazz in Marciac in France. She also sang at Umbria Jazz in Italy.
