Tito Nieves in Fort Lauderdale

Tito Nieves is a Puerto Rican salsa singer, born in Río Piedras in 1958 and raised in New York. He first became known as a vocalist with Conjunto Clásico before beginning a solo career. His repertoire includes “Sonámbulo,” “De Mí Enamórate,” “I Like It Like That” and “Fabricando Fantasías,” while his high tenor earned him the billing “El Pavarotti de la Salsa.” Tito Nieves began performing with Orquesta Cimarrón and later became a lead singer for Conjunto Clásico, years before launching his solo shows. In 2012, he joined Cheo Feliciano, Oscar D’León and other singers for Sergio George’s Salsa Giants concert at the Curaçao North Sea Jazz Festival, a performance released as a live album and concert film.
