About Victor Wooten
Victor Wooten is an American bassist, composer and educator, born in 1964 and known for jazz-funk, fusion and bluegrass-rooted instrumental music. He is a founding member of Béla Fleck and the Flecktones, and his solo catalog includes A Show of Hands and What Did He Say?. His playing is closely associated with double-thumb technique, tapping and bass harmonics.
Victor Wooten began touring with Béla Fleck and the Flecktones after the group formed in 1988, and their concert recordings include Live Art and Live at the Quick. In the 1990s, he performed and recorded with Steve Bailey as the two-bass project Bass Extremes. He later joined Stanley Clarke and Marcus Miller in SMV, which toured behind Thunder in 2008.
