Vyacheslav Butusov is a Russian rock singer and guitarist, born in Krasnoyarsk in 1961 and best known as the frontman of Nautilus Pompilius. He co-founded the band in Sverdlovsk with Dmitry Umetsky, and his voice became closely associated with songs including “Bound by One Chain,” “I Want to Be with You,” “Walking on Water” and “Wings.” The albums Razluka, Knyaz tishiny and Krylya are central works in the group’s catalogue.

Nautilus Pompilius ended its original concert run in 1997 with the farewell program Posledneye plavaniye. Butusov later spent more than a decade performing with U-Piter, followed by the band’s farewell concerts in 2017. He subsequently assembled Orden Slavy and continued to perform material drawn from different periods of his work; the Nautilus Pompilius catalogue formed the basis of his anniversary concert program Nau 40.
