About Ween
Ween is an American rock band formed in New Hope, Pennsylvania, in 1984 by Aaron Freeman and Mickey Melchiondo, who perform as Gene Ween and Dean Ween. Their experimental alternative rock is marked by abrupt stylistic shifts and absurdist humor. Albums including Chocolate and Cheese, The Mollusk and White Pepper produced songs such as “Push th’ Little Daisies,” “Voodoo Lady” and “Ocean Man.”
Live in Chicago documented the band at the Vic Theatre in 2003. After a hiatus, Ween returned to the stage for three concerts at 1STBANK Center in Broomfield in 2016, then joined Primus, Trey Parker and Matt Stone for the South Park 25th Anniversary Concert at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in 2022.
The concert lineup became a five-piece built around Gene Ween and Dean Ween, joined by drummer Claude Coleman Jr., bassist Dave Dreiwitz and keyboardist Glenn McClelland.
Ween returned repeatedly for multi-night runs at Brooklyn Bowl Las Vegas, while Philadelphia appearances included The Met Philadelphia.
