of Montreal is an American indie-pop project founded by Kevin Barnes in Athens, Georgia, in 1996 and associated with the Elephant 6 collective. Its catalog moves through psychedelic pop, glam rock, funk and electronic music, with Hissing Fauna, Are You the Destroyer? and Skeletal Lamping among its best-known albums. Key songs include “Wraith Pinned to the Mist and Other Games,” “Gronlandic Edit” and “The Past Is a Grotesque Animal.”

At a 2008 concert at New York’s Roseland Ballroom, Barnes entered on a white horse during the Skeletal Lamping period. Two years later, of Montreal toured North America behind False Priest on a joint run with Janelle Monáe.
