Westbam & Dr. Motte in Düsseldorf

Westbam is a German DJ and producer, born Maximilian Lenz in Münster in 1965. His records draw on techno, electro and house, and his best-known solo releases include “Celebration Generation,” “Beatbox Rocker” and the album Götterstraße. Westbam performed at the first Love Parade in Berlin in 1989. He later helped establish the Mayday rave in 1991 and became closely associated with its events through decades of DJ appearances, making Mayday a central part of his live history.

Dr. Motte is the stage name of German DJ, producer and electronic-music activist Matthias Roeingh, born in 1960. He plays techno and house and is best known for founding the Love Parade. His recordings include the parade anthems “Sunshine” and “One World One Future,” both made with WestBam. In 1989, he initiated the first Love Parade on Kurfürstendamm in Berlin and later appeared at the event as a DJ and public spokesman. He withdrew from the organization in 2006. In 2022, a nonprofit initiative he founded mounted a new techno parade, where he played a DJ set under the banner Rave The Planet.
