About Anouar Brahem
Anouar Brahem is a Tunisian oud player and composer, born in Tunis in 1957. He writes chamber jazz rooted in Arabic classical music and is known for ECM recordings including Barzakh, Le Pas du Chat Noir and Blue Maqams.
Anouar Brahem performed in the Thimar trio with saxophonist and bass clarinetist John Surman and double bassist Dave Holland. He later presented The Astounding Eyes of Rita through a quartet featuring Klaus Gesing, Björn Meyer and percussionist Khaled Yassine.
His concert appearances include the Barbican in London and the Philharmonie de Paris.
