About Cranes
Cranes are an English alternative-rock band formed in Portsmouth in 1985 by siblings Alison and Jim Shaw. Alison Shaw’s high, delicate vocals and the group’s dark, guitar-led sound became closely associated with the albums Wings of Joy and Forever, as well as the song “Jewel.”
The 1992 Wish Tour placed Cranes in arenas as the opening act for The Cure, including Madison Square Garden in New York and Wembley Arena in London.
