About Dead Can Dance
Dead Can Dance is an Australian group formed in Melbourne in 1981 by Lisa Gerrard and Brendan Perry. Their music encompasses atmospheric post-punk, ambient sound, neoclassical arrangements and traditions from around the world. They are known for albums including Within the Realm of a Dying Sun, The Serpent’s Egg and Into the Labyrinth, as well as songs such as “The Host of Seraphim” and “The Carnival Is Over.”
Their 1993 concerts at the Mayfair Theatre in Santa Monica were filmed and recorded for Toward the Within. After years apart, Gerrard and Perry reunited for a European and North American tour in 2005, then returned to concert halls after releasing Anastasis. Those performances developed into the Anastasis World Tour of 2012 and 2013.
