About David Sedaris
David Sedaris is an American essayist and humorist, born in 1956 in Johnson City, New York, and raised in Raleigh, North Carolina. He first attracted wide attention when NPR broadcast “Santaland Diaries,” his account of working as a department-store elf. His books include Me Talk Pretty One Day, Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim and Calypso, combining autobiographical observation, family stories and deadpan comedy.
Recordings from his 2002 Carnegie Hall engagement were released as David Sedaris: Live at Carnegie Hall. Live for Your Listening Pleasure later documented performances from his 2009 US tour. His theatre programs center on David Sedaris reading published and unpublished essays and diary entries, commonly followed by audience questions and book signings.
Much of his live work has taken place in the United States and the United Kingdom. Canadian dates have included Toronto, while Australian tours have reached the Sydney Opera House.
