About Emmanuel Pahud

Emmanuel Pahud is a French-Swiss flautist, born in Geneva in 1970, and a principal flute of the Berlin Philharmonic. He is known for orchestral, chamber and solo work, including recordings of Mozart’s flute concertos with Claudio Abbado and Bach’s flute sonatas with Trevor Pinnock.

Claudio Abbado appointed him to the orchestra in 1992. The following year, he, pianist Eric Le Sage and clarinettist Paul Meyer founded Musique à l’Empéri, an annual chamber-music festival in Salon-de-Provence. He left the orchestra in 2000 and returned in 2002 under Simon Rattle.

His concert formats include concerto appearances, flute-and-piano recitals and chamber ensembles. His long recital partnership is with Eric Le Sage, while Les Vents Français brings him together with François Leleux, Paul Meyer, Gilbert Audin and Radovan Vlatković.
