About Eric Bogle
Eric Bogle is a Scottish-born Australian folk singer-songwriter, born in Peebles in 1944 and based in Australia after emigrating there in 1969. He is best known for the anti-war songs “And the Band Played Waltzing Matilda” and “No Man’s Land,” also widely known as “The Green Fields of France,” as well as “Leaving Nancy” and “Now I’m Easy.”
Eric Bogle spent decades touring folk clubs, theatres and festivals in Australia, Britain and North America, presenting story-led songs in a direct singer-songwriter format. Much of that stage history was built in partnership with guitarist and multi-instrumentalist John Munro, whose accompaniment became a familiar part of Bogle’s concerts and live recordings.
