Gong are an English-French progressive and psychedelic rock group formed in Paris in 1967 by Australian musician Daevid Allen and English poet and vocalist Gilli Smyth. Their work draws on space rock and jazz-rock, and is closely associated with the Radio Gnome Invisible mythology developed across the albums Flying Teapot, Angel’s Egg and You. Gong performed at Glastonbury Festival in 1971, beginning a live history that has repeatedly brought musicians from different lineups back together. The 25th Birthday Party at The Forum in London in 1994 reunited members from several periods of the group, while the 2006 Gong Unconvention presented the main band and related projects at Melkweg in Amsterdam.
