Grandbrothers in Freiburg im Breisgau

Grandbrothers are a German-Swiss duo formed in Düsseldorf by pianist Erol Sarp and electronic musician Lukas Vogel. Their instrumental music places acoustic piano inside detailed electronic arrangements, heard on albums including Dilation, Open, All the Unknown and Late Reflections, as well as tracks such as “Bloodflow” and “Ezra Was Right.” Grandbrothers have performed at Montreux Jazz Festival using a grand piano fitted with Vogel’s electromechanical system, which strikes and manipulates the instrument while Sarp plays. They later presented the site-specific Late Reflections project inside Cologne Cathedral, whose architecture and long reverberation shaped the music.
