About Julianna Barwick

Julianna Barwick is a Louisiana-born American composer and vocalist known for ambient music built from layered, often wordless singing, loops and electronics. Her albums include The Magic Place, Nepenthe, Will and Healing Is a Miracle; the last features collaborations with Jónsi, Mary Lattimore and Nosaj Thing.

Julianna Barwick constructs solo performances by recording and layering her voice in real time, gradually assembling the harmonies heard on her records. She took that setup into larger theatres and arenas in 2013, when she opened a North American run for Sigur Rós.
