About Kitaro
Kitaro is a Japanese composer and multi-instrumentalist, born in Toyohashi in 1953, who creates instrumental electronic music shaped by new age and ambient sounds. He became widely known for his score to the NHK documentary series The Silk Road; Kojiki, The Light of the Spirit and Thinking of You are among his major albums.
The 1990 world tour built around Kojiki was documented by Live in America and the concert film Kojiki: A Story in Concert. An Enchanted Evening followed his 1995 world tour, preserving a concert format centered on synthesizers, percussion and acoustic instruments. In 2001, he performed at the Yakushi-ji temple in Nara for the concert released as Daylight, Moonlight: Live in Yakushiji.
