About Karl Jenkins
Karl Jenkins is a Welsh composer and musician, born in Penclawdd in 1944, whose work spans contemporary classical and choral music. After playing oboe, saxophone and keyboards with the jazz-rock group Soft Machine, he became known for Adiemus and major choral works including The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace, Requiem and Stabat Mater.
The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace received its world premiere at the Royal Albert Hall in 2000. He returned to large choral forces in 2012, conducting the world premiere of The Peacemakers at Carnegie Hall.
