La Vela Puerca is a Uruguayan ska-rock band formed in Montevideo in 1995. Its horn-driven rock, punk and murga rhythms are heard across albums including De bichos y flores, A contraluz and El impulso, while “El viejo,” “Zafar” and “Va a escampar” became central songs in its catalogue. The concert release Uno para todos documented the band’s performance at Luna Park in Buenos Aires. La Vela Puerca later marked its 20th anniversary at the Velódromo Municipal, preserving the occasion in the film and live album Festejar para sobrevivir and returning its live story to Montevideo.
Las Pelotas are an Argentine rock band formed in Hurlingham in 1988 by former Sumo members Germán Daffunchio and Alejandro Sokol. They are known for songs including “Capitán América,” “Será” and “Personalmente,” and for albums such as Corderos en la noche, Máscaras de sal and Esperando el milagro. The 2011 live release Vivo documented the band’s 20th-anniversary concert at the Buenos Aires arena Luna Park. They have also performed at multiple editions of Cosquín Rock.
