About Marcelo D2
Marcelo D2 is a Brazilian rapper and songwriter, born in Rio de Janeiro in 1967, who co-founded the rap-rock group Planet Hemp before establishing a solo career built around hip-hop and samba. His best-known solo work includes the album A Procura da Batida Perfeita and the songs “Qual É?” and “Desabafo.”
In 2004, Acústico MTV documented Marcelo D2 performing material from his solo catalog and Planet Hemp in an acoustic ensemble setting. Three years later, he performed at Live Earth on Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro.
