Martin Kohlstedt in Donostia / San Sebastian

Martin Kohlstedt is a German pianist and composer, born in Breitenworbis in 1988, whose work moves between contemporary classical music, ambient electronics and improvisation. His catalogue includes the albums TAG, NACHT, STROM, FLUR and FELD, while STRÖME developed his musical language through choral writing. Martin Kohlstedt constructs his concerts from short compositions that he treats as interchangeable modules. At the piano and electronic instruments, he rearranges those pieces in real time, changing their order, transitions and development for each performance. The STRÖME project extended this approach into a choral setting through his collaboration with GewandhausChor Leipzig.
