Nils Petter Molvær in Heidelberg

Nils Petter Molvær is a Norwegian trumpeter and composer, born in 1960 on the island of Sula. After playing in the jazz group Masqualero, he developed a solo language of improvisational trumpet, electronics, ambient textures, dub bass and programmed rhythm. He is known for the albums Khmer, Solid Ether and Baboon Moon. The 2004 live album Streamer documented concert performances in London and Oslo by a group featuring guitarist Eivind Aarset and bassist Audun Erlien. He later took the Baboon Moon material onstage in a compact trio completed by guitarist Stian Westerhus and drummer Erland Dahlen.
