About Piqsiq
Piqsiq are a Canadian Inuit vocal duo formed by sisters Tiffany Ayalik and Inuksuk Mackay, who grew up in Yellowknife. They are known for Inuit throat singing shaped by improvisation and electronic looping, as heard on the album Altering the Timeline.
Piqsiq perform as a two-voice ensemble, using loop pedals to build layers of breath, rhythm and melody in real time. Their concerts expand the paired vocal exchanges of katajjaq into arrangements drawn from Altering the Timeline.
