About Ronnie Foster
Ronnie Foster is an American jazz keyboardist, composer and producer, born in Buffalo in 1950, whose principal instrument is the Hammond B-3 organ. His Blue Note debut, Two Headed Freap, set soul-jazz grooves against funk, and A Tribe Called Quest later sampled “Mystic Brew” for “Electric Relaxation.” His keyboards also appear on George Benson’s album Breezin’.
In 1970, Foster performed with Grant Green at Newark’s Cliche Lounge on the recordings released as Alive! He subsequently led his own group at the 1973 Montreux Jazz Festival, a performance documented on Live: Cookin’ with Blue Note at Montreux.
