About The Native Howl
The Native Howl is an American band formed in Leonard, Michigan, in 2013. The group calls its mix of bluegrass instrumentation, folk songwriting and thrash metal “thrash grass.” Its best-known recordings include “Thunderhead” and “Harvester of Constant Sorrow,” a reworking of Metallica’s “Harvester of Sorrow” and the traditional song “Man of Constant Sorrow,” alongside the albums Sons of Destruction and Out of the Garden and Into the Darkness.
The band won the inaugural season of the original-music competition No Cover in 2022, a result that brought a recording contract with Sumerian Records. In 2023, The Native Howl performed “Thunderhead” at its America’s Got Talent audition and advanced to the semifinals of America’s Got Talent.
