The Radio Dept. are a Swedish indie-pop band formed in Lund in 1995. Built around Johan Duncanson and Martin Carlberg, the group plays hazy guitar pop shaped by electronic textures. Their best-known albums include Lesser Matters, Pet Grief, Clinging to a Scheme and Running Out of Love, while key songs include “Strange Things Will Happen,” “Where Damage Isn’t Already Done” and “Heaven’s on Fire.” In 2011, concerts behind Clinging to a Scheme took The Radio Dept. through North America, where they performed at Coachella. The same year, the band played Primavera Sound in Barcelona.
Ana Roxanne is an American electronic musician and vocalist raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. Her ambient pop draws on choral music, devotional traditions and electronic sound, while her Filipino heritage and intersex identity inform the writing. She introduced the project with the release ~~~ and followed it with the album Because of a Flower, which includes “Suite pour l’invisible” and “Venus.” Her performances present voice and electronics in a solo format shaped around sustained tones, loops and songs. Appearances at Rewire in The Hague and Primavera Sound in Barcelona have taken that work well beyond the Bay Area, placing Ana Roxanne’s intimate compositions in the focused setting of Rewire and on the wider program of Primavera Sound.
