About The Trouble Notes
The Trouble Notes are a multinational instrumental folk trio formed in New York in 2013 and later based in Berlin. Their violin-led music draws on Celtic, Balkan and other folk traditions, supported by acoustic guitar and percussion; their albums include Lose Your Ties and Liberty Awaits.
The Trouble Notes developed their early repertoire through street performances in New York, then continued busking as they travelled through Europe and settled in Berlin. They later brought that material into clubs, theatres and festivals during tours in Europe and North America.
The group performs as a trio built around Bennet Cerven’s violin, Florian Eisenschmidt’s guitar and Oliver Maguire’s percussion.
