About The Ventures
The Ventures are an American instrumental rock band formed in Tacoma, Washington, in 1958 by guitarists Don Wilson and Bob Bogle. Closely associated with surf music, they are known for electric-guitar recordings including “Walk, Don’t Run,” “Perfidia” and the theme from “Hawaii Five-O.”
A 1962 tour took The Ventures to Japan, beginning a long concert relationship with the country. The band returned repeatedly over the following decades, performing guitar-led instrumental sets drawn from its extensive catalogue. Japan remained The Ventures’ principal overseas concert market for decades.
