About Tim Hecker
Tim Hecker is a Canadian electronic composer and musician born in Vancouver in 1974. He first recorded as Jetone before releasing music under his own name, building dense ambient and electroacoustic works from distortion, drones and processed instruments. His principal albums include Harmony in Ultraviolet, Ravedeath, 1972, Virgins, Love Streams and Konoyo.
A 2014 performance at St John at Hackney Church in London presented material from Virgins through electronics, organ and woodwinds, joined by Kara-Lis Coverdale and Grímur Helgason. For concerts connected to Konoyo, Hecker performed with gagaku musicians from Tokyo Gakuso, carrying the instrumentation of the record into the live setting.
