About Year Of No Light

Year Of No Light is a French post-metal band formed in Bordeaux in 2001. The group plays long-form, largely instrumental music shaped by doom, sludge and post-rock. Its principal albums include Nord, Ausserwelt, Tocsin and Consolamentum.

Year Of No Light played Roadburn Festival in 2008 and later wrote a live score for Carl Theodor Dreyer’s 1932 film Vampyr. The resulting ciné-concert used Year Of No Light’s six-piece instrumental lineup, built around three guitars and two drum kits.
