About Alan Menken

Alan Menken is an American composer and songwriter, born in New York in 1949. He is known for the music of Disney films including The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin and Pocahontas, as well as the stage musical Little Shop of Horrors. His principal collaborators have included lyricists Howard Ashman, Tim Rice, Stephen Schwartz and David Zippel.

A Whole New World of Alan Menken is an autobiographical concert built around Menken performing at the piano and recounting the stories behind his songs. He presented the program at the Royal Albert Hall and also performed it for Disney audiences at D23 Expo in Anaheim.
