About Calexico
Calexico are an American band formed in Tucson, Arizona, in 1996 by singer-guitarist Joey Burns and drummer John Convertino. They play desert-toned indie rock and Americana shaped by mariachi, country, folk and jazz. Their best-known records include The Black Light and Feast of Wire, home to songs such as “The Ballad of Cable Hogue” and “Sunken Waltz.”
A 2002 concert at the Barbican in London was released as the concert film World Drifts In. In 2005, Calexico toured with Iron & Wine behind their collaborative EP In the Reins, then renewed the partnership for the 2019 album Years to Burn and a joint tour. Between those projects, the 2012 live album Spiritoso documented orchestral concerts with Radio-Symphonieorchester Wien and Deutsches Filmorchester Babelsberg.
Calexico have played club stages at Washington’s 9:30 Club and Amsterdam’s Paradiso. Their outdoor festival appearances have included Glastonbury Festival.
