About Clap Your Hands Say Yeah
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah is an American indie rock band formed in Philadelphia in 2004 and led by singer and songwriter Alec Ounsworth. Its self-released 2005 debut album, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, spread through online word of mouth and introduced songs including “The Skin of My Yellow Country Teeth,” “Is This Love?” and “Upon This Tidal Wave of Young Blood.” Later albums include Some Loud Thunder, Hysterical and New Fragility.
In 2005, the band played New York’s Bowery Ballroom during the rapid rise of its debut. A decade later, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah marked the album’s tenth anniversary on tour by performing it in full.
In 2006, the band performed at both Coachella and Lollapalooza.
