About Explosions In The Sky
Explosions In The Sky are an American instrumental post-rock band formed in Austin, Texas, in 1999. They are known for guitar-led compositions on albums including Those Who Tell the Truth Shall Die, Those Who Tell the Truth Shall Live Forever, The Earth Is Not a Cold Dead Place and All of a Sudden I Miss Everyone, as well as their music for the film Friday Night Lights.
In 2019, the band marked its twentieth anniversary with a tour that drew on material across its catalogue. The End Tour followed the release of End in 2023 and took the group through theatres and concert halls in the United States and Europe.
The quartet performs as an instrumental rock band, using interlocking electric guitars, bass and drums to build long compositions through repeated motifs and shifts in volume.
Festival appearances have included Coachella in California and Primavera Sound in Barcelona.
