About Fatback Band
Fatback Band is an American funk and disco group formed in New York City in 1970 by drummer Bill Curtis. The band is known for groove-led records including “(Do the) Spanish Hustle,” “Backstrokin’,” “I Found Lovin’” and “King Tim III (Personality Jock),” an early commercially released rap recording.
Fatback Band have returned repeatedly to London’s Jazz Cafe for club concerts. Their British appearances have also included Glastonbury Festival.
The group performs as a full funk band, built around drums, bass, horns and vocals, and Bill Curtis leads the ensemble from behind the drum kit.
