Kronos Quartet Tickets & 2026–2027 Tour Dates

Kronos Quartet is an American string quartet founded in Seattle in 1973 by violinist David Harrington. The ensemble plays contemporary classical music and has commissioned thousands of works, building a repertoire that includes George Crumb’s “Black Angels,” Steve Reich’s “Different Trains” and recordings such as Pieces of Africa. Its work also extends to film music, including Philip Glass’s score for Dracula and Clint Mansell’s score for Requiem for a Dream.

Carnegie Hall hosted a concert celebrating the quartet’s 40th anniversary in 2014. The ensemble later marked its 50th anniversary through the Five Decades project, revisiting music from its history in concert and bringing former members into selected performances.

Performances use the standard quartet lineup of two violins, viola and cello, often supplemented by amplification, recorded sound or guest musicians when a composition requires them. Programs can place work by Terry Riley, Laurie Anderson and Astor Piazzolla beside newly commissioned pieces.

The ensemble presented its own Kronos Festival at the SFJAZZ Center in San Francisco and made repeated appearances at the Big Ears Festival in Knoxville.
