About Lubomyr Melnyk
Lubomyr Melnyk is a Ukrainian-Canadian composer and pianist, born in Munich in 1948 and known for developing “continuous music,” a technique built on rapid streams of notes and sustained resonance. His principal recordings include KMH: Piano Music in the Continuous Mode, Corollaries and Rivers and Streams.
His NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert documented the solo acoustic-piano format at the centre of his performances. His recitals bring extended continuous-music compositions into concert halls, churches and contemporary-classical festivals, keeping the piano as the sole focus of a performance by Lubomyr Melnyk.
