About The Abyssinians
The Abyssinians are a Jamaican roots-reggae vocal trio formed in Kingston in 1968 by Bernard Collins and brothers Donald and Linford Manning. They are known for close three-part harmonies, Rastafarian themes and songs including “Satta Massagana,” “Declaration of Rights” and “Forward Unto Zion”; Satta Massagana also became the title of their debut album.
Live at the Music Machine documents The Abyssinians performing in a London club with a backing band. A later concert recording preserved their band-backed vocal format on Live in San Francisco.
