About Wailing Souls
Wailing Souls are a Jamaican roots-reggae vocal group formed in Kingston in the late 1960s. Centered for much of their history on Winston “Pipe” Matthews and Lloyd “Bread” McDonald, they are known for close harmonies and recordings including “Jah Jah Give Us Life,” “Things and Time” and the album Fire House Rock.
At Reggae Sunsplash in 1981, Wailing Souls took part in the festival’s tribute to Bob Marley. They later toured beyond Jamaica, performing across Europe and the United States.
