About The Sonics
The Sonics are an American garage-rock band formed in Tacoma in 1960. Their distorted guitars, forceful vocals and hard-driving rhythm helped shape the sound later called proto-punk. They are known for “The Witch,” “Psycho” and “Strychnine,” as well as their version of “Have Love, Will Travel” and the albums Here Are The Sonics and Boom.
During the 1960s, The Sonics played teen dances, clubs and ballrooms around the Pacific Northwest. The band reunited for Cavestomp at Warsaw in Brooklyn in 2007, then returned to festival and club stages on both sides of the Atlantic. Later appearances included Primavera Sound in Barcelona.
