About Wye Oak
Wye Oak is an American indie-rock duo formed in Baltimore in 2006 by Jenn Wasner and Andy Stack. The group is known for the song and album “Civilian,” as well as records including “Shriek” and “The Louder I Call, the Faster It Runs,” which move between guitar-driven rock, electronic textures and quieter folk-rooted writing.
Wye Oak toured behind “Civilian” in 2011 and performed at Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago that year, followed by an appearance at Coachella in 2012. Shows supporting “Shriek” in 2014 reflected the album’s turn toward bass and synthesizers, while the duo’s concert setup paired Wasner’s vocals and string instruments with Stack playing drums and keyboards simultaneously. That two-person arrangement remained central to performances by Jenn Wasner and Andy Stack.
